Exhibition Prints for the National Steinbeck Center

During the composition of To a God Unknown in 1930, John Steinbeck wrote in his journal:

Each figure is a population and the stones—the trees, the muscled mountains are the world—but not the world apart from man—the world and man—the one inseparable unit man and his environment. Why they should ever have been understood as being separate I do not know.

Collected from a 20 year archive of world travels, my hope is that you will see in these images, as in Steinbeck’s fiction, that our dreams and our defeats are largely shaped by the land we inhabit.
